Double Bit Wedge makers mark??

To the best of my ability,as far as the print itself goes, the only thing that works for me is

“E. & H. Broad, St. John, N.B.”

Here's a bit about the maker: https://www.cchsnb.ca/index.php/artifacts/

Something about that axe, however, makes me doubt that it really is that old-the shape overall, but especially the near-perfectly straight lines delineating the overlaid steel bits.

What Does look authentic are the patchy H.T. "clouds" on each of the blades. Back then, quenching by hand, the blades of a DB were likely dipped alternatively, like a kayak paddle, until the heat was low enough than the whole forging submerged (or a drift inserted as heat-sink and self-tempered as it cooled.
That'd be consistent with work that old.

I'd still like some second opinion on all this though.
