Has Spyderco ever made a double bladed knife? One fully sereated edge and one plain would be a great EDC piece.

Did someone say DYAD? Seems like I've heard of that one  . Actually the C-44 big Dyad has been my every day carry for several months now and I don't plan on retiring it anytime soon. They are not cheap but you won't regret it ;) >>> Has been on my personal top 10 for over a year.

Dyad, sweet Dyad. It is a wonderful knife and I wish I had a few more. I have the Jr. with micarta handles and the FRN model. I just leave them in the boxes, even though it breaks my heart.

I had one malfunction and the guys at Spyderco couldn't fix it, so I had to pick out some replacement knives from their list. Now I keep the two I have left safe and sound.

Actually, I carried the Large Dyad with the serrated edge open in a pocket sheath so that I could draw it while thumbing open the clip point blade. The end result was that I was holding a knive that could be used in both reverse and standard grips. The action was slick enough that if I carried it closed and clipped to my pocket, I could thumb open the clip point on the draw and then snap it down to open the serrated edge.

Fun to play with, but certainly not practical tactical.

It really kind of pops the air out of my balloon to hear that they are bringing back a small Dyad. Now don't get me wrong because I have 9 of the small C-39 Jr. models and 2 of them with Micarta Scales. But the C-44 is the one that NEEDS to come back into production.

The people that I am able to convince to try this knife out>> and it's hard to get people to try it for some reason  But just recently I got Blackninja to do a trade with me in which he got one of my big ones. He was so pleasantly surprised that he can't be quiet about it now :D
But it's like Woody says it's just a masterpiece of an EDC folder. There just isn't anything you can't hardly do with that knife. It is a fantastic blade. Please BRING BACK THE C-44 big DYAD>> it's definitely a HALL OF FAME candidate ;)

Is the original poster talking about a knife with 2 seperate blades, 1 serrated & 1 Plain Edge, or a Single blade with double edges, 1 Serrated & 1 Plain?

Personally I love the SOG Pentagon fixed blade but dislike the fact it is AUS-6.

I remember reading on these knives, right here on bladeforums.

If my memory is good, I think spyderco made them, but did not have a patent.

Then S&W took the desing, and patented it...

Or maybe I'm still drunk from last night (yes, at 5 pm)

I picked up a spyderco dyad on ebay.....should be here any day.

I can't believe they let this design go! I wish thay would make one with steel handles!

Wish Spyderco would make a dyad sized between the mini & the full sized model.

I used to own a full sized dyad, but it was too big for office carry.

I have the mini dyad with polished micarta handles, and it is as close to a perfect knife as I have ever owned, but wish it was just a little bit bigger, as I am used to a 3' blade.

I also like the blade shapes of the mini better than the full sized, the spine on the plain edge blade on the full sized model is scooped (for lack of a better word) & I like the straighter spined plain edge shape better - it's just a cosmetic thing, but I don't like the plain edge blade to look like a filet knife.

I am used to knifes with a 3" blade, give or take a little.

That is a brilliant idea, Unc! I would love to have a knife like the one you have in mind. It would pretty much be my dream come true.

FWIW, I think the S&W copy was a pale imitation of the real thing. I handled one and it was unsatisfying, to say the least.

The Smith & Wesson is junk.
Buck made the Ecco, in 2 sizes, neither one has a clip & the holes are not as easy to open, but it is pretty well made.

One blade was plain & the other was only partially serrated.

Spyderco's are always the best.

I am really looking forward to the micro dyad, just because of the bolsters & the brown jigged bone - ultra classy & VERY sheeple friendly.

If any one gives you grief for having a knife, just open the serrated blade & show them it doesn't even have a point.
