What exactly is double cut finish? It looks like bead blasted but I was just curious. Is it more or less susceptible to rust than a satin finish? Thanks for any input.

it is a bead blast finish. i think is it more likely to rust than satin.

First they do a grit blast, then follow that with a glass bead blast; ergo Double Cut Bead Blast.

Guy has it in a nutshell. According to Jerry:

A "double cut" is exactly like it sounds. We have set up two large blasting cabinets. One has an abrasive media and the other has a very fine glass bead media. We hit the blades in both cabinets and the combination seems to close off the pores of the steel much better than just a single blast. This seems to offer better resistance to the elements.

Rust shouldn't be much of a consideration with INFI. It is not a true "stainless" steel, but is more rust resistant than D2. D2 is pretty darn rust resistant, but if neglected over a period of time it can develop some rust.

No worries, get the finish that you prefer. Rust really isn't much of an issue. ;)

Out of curiosity, how does the "competition finish" relate? Is it similar to a bead blast finish? How does it compare to satin finish?

Here are my double cuts. I love this finish.. My thoughts were the same about what this is called.. it seemed like satin would be what this is called, because when I think of a satin finish on paint it is dulled finish. Satin is a polished finish, while double cut is sand blasted. I don't like the competition finish because I've seen many which havent' been used get a lot of rust on them. I'm not sure what happened on the upper part of the black handled Batac.. it looks like the sandblasting missed a part
