I 've got a knife with DC finish coming. I want this knife for a user. Got any pics out there. Nastier the better. Thanks.

I finally caved and ordered a choilless BJLE with black canvas in DCBB (through BCS) so I don't have any hardcore DCBB pics, but will soon! My only other DCBB blade is a Hack Cub, and I don't have any pics of it, though it's still in good shape

Sounds like a nice knife.

I like my sar3 dc but it rusts more easily than my satin cabs. I have a spot inside the talon hole that has been hard to get rid of.

Here you go. I love the combo doublecut with black canvas.

Nice pic Al-Sheikh. I am not sure what knife you have? But I like it (modified team Gemini?).

that was going to be my guess. i really dig the way it looks too

Yup, it's a modded TG, a really cool one at that. He started a thread about it 3 months (?) ago....maybe

So, Al-Sheikh, have you thrown that TG yet? ;)

And that DC BM is sweet Guyon

Correct! A circumcised TG it is! I've thrown the beast like there's no tomorrow. Great fun :D

If you're more worried about the rust than keeping the DC finish inside the talon hole, you could put a .22 cal bronze bore brush in a cordless drill with the rust preventative of your choice (Gunzilla works great) on the brush and as an after-treatment

Any more comments on the rust resistance of the double cut finish? I've found bead-blast finishes to be relatively corrosion-prone on other brands, but I prefer the grind and thicker stock of the CG versions and would like to be able to get that grind/stock in an uncoated blade (and the only two ways to do that are to get the double cut/bead-blast finish or to get a coated blade and then strip the coating).

Had a SAR# but can't remember how big the talon hole is. In the past I have taken DCBB and run a .22 Cal Steel Bore Brush throught he hole. Make sure you secure the blade edge before attempting this. Cleans up right nice:). I have had several DCBB over the years and all but maybe 9 or 10 developed rust in the holes and or along the exposed tangs. Tangs I just use a little hoppy's and 0000-steel wool or a Gray (fine) Scotch Brite.

I think about double cut the same way I think about Remington's bead blasted finishes on their Express line.
Yes, there's more surface area where corrosion can set in. On the other hand, those tiny little bead blast divots hold oil like nobody's business.
Take an old t-shirt, cut off a strip, pour on some mineral oil, and stick it in a Ziplock bag in your kit. A quick wipe once in a while, and you're GTG.
You're going to have the same issue with a stripped CG blade which isn't nearly as smooth as satin. Double cut looks a lot better IMO.

Good points. Thanks for the tips!
