What does it mean when a blade is double cut...and what advantages does it give you?

Ive heard some people say that it resists rust better, Ive heard others say it rusts easier. I just think its cool looking.

Smoothed and then bead blasted in some fashion--thus the two "cuts."

It looks like this...

Couple more pics of DC after some use. It cleans up really nicely. I've had no issues with rust.

I have had no problems with my ASH 1 custom rusting, and I prefer DC and satin over coatings. Here it is a DC ASH 1 custom....

I prefer Satin, because it is easier to re-do.

Need a bead-blaster to re-do DC, but it sure beats coated. Of course, no biggie to turn DC into satin.

It glows when the elves get near, and it won't stain if you spill Kool Aid on it.

I also have heard that it picks up alien transmissions if you line it up just right with the Orion Nebula.

Because mustard is no match for double cut, it's really the only choice when you're making lighter dogs.

It tends to attract seductive mystery women.

And people bow before you when you own double cut.

ive found dc to be the most durable finish, that is, it doesnt show scratches as readily.

the satin looks the best, but scratches easily. though it is fairly simple to repair.

This is how Jerry explains it:

A "double cut" is exactly like it sounds. We have set up two large blasting cabinets. One has an abrasive media and the other has a very fine glass bead media. We hit the blades in both cabinets and the combination seems to close off the pores of the steel much better than just a single blast. This seems to offer better resistance to the elements.
