Here is a pair of D-guards that I am getting ready to send out to a customer.
The top one has a forged W2 blade that is 10 5/8" long while the overall length is 16 1/4". The fittings are nitre blued with a fileworked nickel silver spacer. The hamon on this one may be my best one so far. It has utsuri and a ton of activity that is hard to see in the photo.
The lower one has 11 3/8" blade forged from 1084/15N20 in a ladder pattern. the overall length is 16 3/4". The guard is also a ladder pattern while the other fiitings are a random pattern damascus. Both of the knives have amber sambar stag for handle material.

Not much else to say Craig except both are OUTSTANDING.

Really like the carbon steel alot,
but the damascus even better.

Great work........

Both are outstanding. My love of pattern welded steel pulls me in that direction, but either one make an excellent addition to anyone's bowie collection.

Wow those two look both great. Although I really like damascus I have to say that in this instance I like the one with the hamon even better.
Excellent work and very well proportioned;)

Great pair. I have to say I like rounded D guards better than square ones, but this is probably an individual preference thing.

I usually prefer "D" guards to be a little more rounded also, but this pair is so nice that they do not suffer IMO. And as you said "it's only a preference thing".

You did good Dave.

Thanks Kevin, Craig's stuff is great and sells quite well on my site. The problem is, which to keep and which to sell.
Especially on these 2!
Thanks Craig

Sorry I have been away from the thread and haven't responded. I am gettting ready for the PKA show in Denver and have been running around crazily between getting knives ready in the shop and working in the office to get everything ready for the show so it runs smoothly. I appreciate the comments on the D-guards. As for the rounded or the straight D's, I think it really is a personal prefernce thing. I do both styles and at first I really liked the rounded D's more. But as I make more and more of them I am finding myself drawn to the straighter D's. I really like the bottom of the D' Running parallel with the handle material, I think it give it a nice clean look.
