Hello here in michigan it seems blade length does not matter as long as knife is not used unlawfully but double edged blades are not allowed.

if i were to take a double edged blade and file down one side to make it single edge, would this make the knife now legal?

its a cheap throwing/boot knife with only "pakistan" on the blade.

now could i file down one side but leave the tip double edged like half an inch? or would i need to file down the whole side?

Thanks in advance

I'm not an attorney, nor have I played one on TV... but...

http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/mi.txt

750.227. (1) A person shall not carry a dagger, dirk,
stiletto, a double-edged nonfolding stabbing instrument of
any length, or any dangerous weapon, except a hunting
knife adapted and carried as such, concealed on or about
his or her person, or whether concealed or otherwise in
any vehicle... except in his or her dwelling house [or]
place of business... (3) A person who violates this
section is guilty of a felony...

- "Daggers, dirks, stilettos... and similar articles,
designed for the purpose of bodily assault or defense, are
generally recognized as 'dangerous weapons per se'..."

Sounds to me like you need to give up on carrying the dagger. If I were on a jury, and you tried to slide a partially-dulled double-edged knife past me (and I weren't a knife nut) I would nail you to the wall for it. Just buy a single-edged knife and deal with it.

Since it says Pakistan on it, I would continue to grind it until nothing is left of the knife at all.

lol thanks guys,

the only reason i keep the knife is because i did a nice cross cord wrapping on the handle heheh

guess this knife stays on yard duty

thanks again
