useful for elephant or small dinosaur hunting..:)

blade length of 20cm, about 33cm overall
both sides have full bevels & are sharpened
blade runs 6-5mm thick
blade is 1095, guard is duralumin & brass, handle oak with brass bolts

this knife cost me more blood, sweat & frustration than I care to remember... but in this knife I've finally struck upon a blade design that fulfills both my functional & aesthetic requirements..

thanks for looking!

Great job!!! Really nice lines. How did you keep everything so symetrical and straight while grinding?

Thanks, appreciate it!

The bevels were done with an angle grinder, with the blade blank fixed at a angles between the vise jaws. I used the jaws as a guide and grinding away only the part sticking up above the vise jaws.

finishing by hand with stones helped too.. the guard bevels were done the same way as the blade.

My God you have to be kidding me!! I would have bet on a belt grinder and buffer. If you can do that good with an angle grinder then I can't wait to see what you make with a belt grinder.

I think that's a great way to do a double edge. Very nice!

I usualy work without power tools if I can help it:) but this knife was big enough that even an angle grinding was hard work!

it was hand finished up to 600 grit & then buffed on a bench grinder with a buffing wheel attached..

Thanks Cutter, I was inspired by several Hog hunting blade designs, thus the blade thickness & double edge..

Comments very much appreciated KnifeCollector!
