I'm looking for a quality top edge sharpened folder. must be a folder, no autos, or out the fronts. I know that gerber makes a couple, but i'm have trouble finding any other makers.

Full double edged in a folder is tricky bc the handle must completely encapsulate the blade. Only true one I know of is boker afd or efd. I think it is discontinued though.

Folders with a pronounced swedge that can be sharpened easily include that giant sog one, al mar sere 2k, and looks like the new cold steel counterpointer

AG Russell...

They had a folding Sting... can't find it now.

I can convert some folders to D/E. All a matter of removing anything that protrudes from the handle when closed.

this thread makes me wish my lone wolf paul defender had a swedge... blade folds completely within the handle and would be an excellent candidate for this project but alas its ffg and the spine is much to thick to be trying to sharpen...

does make me consider having it reground though....

If you wanna go all out and get a great knife I'd take a look at the HTM Darrell Ralph madd maxx folder I'm not a fan of double edged knives but even I can't denie it's a quality piece but the price is a little on the steep side.

Or what I did to a few crkt m21s is grind the first 1/2" of the spine to a true edge and the following inch to a swedge. The handle covers the sharp part

Wait til the Spyderco Szabo folder comes out... I'll be waving and D/E those guys like it's going out of style.
