Double Edged Fighting Knife?

I am looking for a decent production knife that has a double edged blade with either g-10 or micarta handle and a decent sheath. I have been comparing the Boker Applegate boot knife and the CS peacekeeper II, but have found things that I don't like about both knives. With the Boker, I like everything but the way the blade is sharpened. Please correct me if I am wrong but the blade is sharpened on one side with the other side being slightly concave? That seems like it would be a real pain to sharpen. With the CS, after doing searches on this knife it seems that the overall opinion of the CS kraton handles is that they are less that adequate. So basically I am looking for suggestions for alternatives to these two knives. :)

Although both have kraton handles, the SOG Desert Dagger and the Cold Steel Tai Pan are two of the best double-edged "fighters" that I've seen.

I know this is slightly different than what you're asking about but have you looked at a push dagger? I have 2 of Cold Steels' (older model of coarse in AUS-8A) SafeKeeper II's that are mean as hell double edger's. You couldn't shoot those things out of your hands.:D

The sheath, or the clip in particular, is shite. You would either have to buy a Blade-Tech TekLok to really use this sheath or go to a custom sheathmaker and have them hook you up.

Take a look....
CS SafeKeeper II

Oh yeah one more thing...
I would maybe look around for an older AUS-8A version if I were you. However, maybe someone here can add their opinion to the contrary with regards to CS's new 420 sub zero stuff they're using. It may be a fine (maybe even good) steel but out of the two I can only vouch for AUS-8A.

Seriously though, at least consider a push dagger. CS's does kick butt.

I know it's probably a bit over budget, but for a smaller knife, Al Polkowski's knives are superb. Some of greg Lightfoot's are also excellent. I love double edged blades too. Several of their designs have worked their way down to productions.

MW740:

Mikov's Czech made F/S 3rd Pattern is a fine example of wartime bladeware http://www.noveli.cz/katalog/detail.php?id=20
Their limited edition commando looks just as fine too http://www.knive-noveli.com/b_pics/knife392.jpg
The Italian Fox Cutlery Military dagger 1688 http://www.foxcutlery.com/bin/x.cgi/uk_eur/index/default/default/35546-2101958425 looks interesting but the handles are rubber.
However the Spanish all metal Aitor Desert King which I understand is issued to a SF unit from the Middle East http://store3.yimg.com/I/gyby_1709_175451984 is tough as it can get.
The Kershaw Trooper looks great for both in and outdoors http://www.kershawknives.com/trooper.htm
But if that's way too much, I can't see any problems with the German made Eickhorn M3 http://www.eickhorn-solingen.com/englisch/framesets/military/frameset_combat.html
And if you have the use of a belt sander the Camillus "BLACK-OPS" CQB3 Series (Plain Edge) is just as excellent too http://www.1sks.com/images/camillus/cam-cqb3-cqb4.jpg
Looking back, who can not help, but love the simplicity of the Ek Mk4/3 http://www.ekknife.com/ek4.html
But the Gerber Mark 2 is breathtaking http://home.pressroom.com/philips/pulser/gerber.htm
The point here is that, its all a matter of choice when choosing a dagger.

Krizzard, out.

It's made for cutting fiberglass insulation (so the copy says), but it's very similar to early war knives which were work knives taken off shelves before war production could make better knives. Something like this was called a "pig sticker". The blade seems thin, but a comparison between this blade and say the Sykes/Fairbairn will reveal very little difference.

This one is $9 retail and about 7.50 dollars from a discounter, but it comes with no edge to speak of. However, the blade is a high carbon steel and takes on a razor sharp edge after only a few minutes on the stones.

The Bauchop Warlock is made from D2 and has micarta handles. A very obvious Fairbairn-Sykes influence. Nothing remarkable in the way of materials but I just had to have one, that and the Alleycat. They came with cordura sheaths but I'm having leather ones made.
