I recently made my first ringed karambit, and was commissioned shortly thereafter for two more, this time with a sharpened back edge as well. Here they are! They are made from
sawmill blade material which heat treats and performs as 1080. I cut them from the piece on the far right of this pic:

Here is what they looked like after profiling, heat treatment and initial bevel grinding:

Why no ring? I have a tiny shop and not enough room for a drill press and large enough drills to make a full tang ringed karambit... yet. Anyway, then I attached the handles and made the sheaths. Note the ring consists of the outer handle material and between the scales is sandwiched a black G10 layer of the same thickness as the partial steel tang. I expect them to hold up well.

Now they are in the mail on the way to their new owner. I sure hope he likes them! Thanks for looking!

Just saw this here...

normally I only buy and sell here but I’ll gladly post my review of David’s work, copied from the email I just sent him...

David,

Just got the karambits today. First impressions... you do good work. It reminds me of the stuff David Farmer was making before he quit. He was excellent at making blades from reclaimed materials (saw blades, broken machetes) and was good at combining primitive and tribal elements with modern handle and sheath materials. I always miss his stuff and think of him when I see your work.

As for the rings, the partial tang is a genius idea and this particular application of it would make Phil Wilson proud. These are super light and super easy to carry without sacrificing size or handling capability.

The blades are nicely sharpened and the back edges are like super curved scandi edges. I thought at first I would have preferred symmetrical front/back edges but this would only be an aesthetic boost. I also like that the edges are different sizes and curvatures.

Your kydex work is spot on also man. I really like the fit!

Nice work all around, I am glad I reached out to you as this was exactly the kind of equipment I needed for how I’m training this year.

Thanks again and keep it up, you should be very proud of your work.

It was my pleasure, and all I can say to that is thank you for such a kind appraisal of my modest work.
