Double Lugs?

I was wondering what the general thought on double lugs versus a single thumb lug

Personally, I am not a fan of double lugs. I like the aesthetics of the back of the thumb lug quite a bit. I've been trying to swap my double lug Lg Micarta Insingo for a single lug Lg Micarta Insingo for awhile with no luck. I don't want to send it to CRK for a single lug because of the wait time.

Thanks for your input :)

I also prefer the look of the single lug, and i prefer the aesthetics of a single sided safety on my 1911. :)

I agree with you Nikkogi. Beyond the style preferences, double lugs don't seem too useful to me personally. While it gives you the option to open it with your other hand, the lock side is still catering to your dominant hand and pushing up on the frame lock to close the knife with your weak hand is just too awkward for me to consider it a benefit.

I'm on the double lug side of CRK, I like the balanced look and while it is a PITA to open the lockbar side of the knife, due to the lack of clearance, it still can be done with a flick. I also prefer silver, it does not rub off like the blue.

Without it, I'm SOL and have to switch hands. Usually happens also when I least want to, because I'm holding something unwieldy in one hand and need a knife to cut something free or open something.

I reach across body if needed and draw my knife at times, and then to have to start over anyway because I have to swap my load and my knife hands is awkward. If I can open my knife with either hand, problem never comes up in the first place.

But then again, I put double clips (one on each side) of many of my EDC knives so I can put them in either LFP or RFP in seconds at will. That way I can carry a pistol, or a dedicated clip-side knife in the other pocket.

I wish I could remove my stud completely for sharpening because it gets in the way of my super wide bevels.

I wanted double for a while, but it really annoys me when sharpening.

I prefer the look of the double lugs. I do agree that it is not very useful though. I would send it to CRK for swapping. I know waiting sucks. :)

What angle are you sharpening at? Which steel?

Maybe I am in the minority because.....I really don't care either way. My large Insingo has one and my 25 has two lugs. I always open with my right hand so from a functionality perspective, both work fine. As far as the look of one vs. two at this point both are fine with me.

Being left handed, I've gotten use to using both hands to operate my knives, thus it is double studs for me.

I think aside from some sharpening issues the double studs are nice on a large. On the small, the extra lug tends to get in the way when deploying the blade.

I'm a 'ritey' and see no use in the dbl.
Wonder if the clip side lug ever tries to open the knife, when removing it from your pocket??

This might be a weird comment but if you are someone who enjoys the sound of certain really nice linerlocks, it usually sounds even better if you open it lefty. I like double thumbstuds.

I much prefer double lugs, but its not a deal breaker for me. If it was up to me, they would be all silver as they show no wear, but I also don't mind the look of a used sebenza with snail trails and bluing rubbed off the stud.
