Double Publishing

I am just curious, and maybe I shouldn't bring this up...
But what are peoples opinions about an author gettting the same article published in two different publications?
For some reason I thought someone told me once that it was bad form to do this, but I don't remember why. Seems to me if the two pubs are both willing to pay, more power to the author.

It depends on the contract you sign with each publication. If you sign non-exclusive rights, then it's alright, but if you sell a story to a publication with exclusive rights, you cannot sell the same article to another publication. Plus, it's just bad business anyway. Nobody wants to read the same crap twice.
