Double Sided Carpet Tape for surface grinder

is there a certain brand that is best for this? (Kit?) I have been wacking at some talonite on my tool and cutter grinder and holding it down with super glue...but its a big mess...hard to clean up...and gets everywhere....ready to make a switch....do the opposing sides come out a parallel as with magnetic steel on a mag chuck as when using the tape? thanks...

The best I have found and used comes from, and is marked, Ace Hardware. Lemme know if you need a roll.
I use it to surface grind almost all of my handle materials and non metallic materials.

If I have to remove alot of material from Stellite or Talonite, I use the Locktite 480 and super glue it to the steel plate. That way I can use plenty of coolant on it.
 
I don't know if there is a Lowes home improvement there, but they have a great REALLY sticky thin double sided carpet tape. It is black with a white release paper.
Runs about 1/16" thick. It works well.

I have to grind LOTS of non magnetic stuff at work. I use the carpet tape, and yes, the ACE hardware stuff is BEST!!!
I also use devcon 5 min epoxy! It holds well and what your grinding be removed with acetone, dead blow hammer and a block of micarta. The longer you let the acetone sit, the less you willhave to use the dead blow

I also keep a dish full of magnetic material "sludge" that is great for filling in gaps in and around what you are grinding.
Lastly, a good collection of thin magnetic shims is usefull for holding things in place if the tape or glue lets go!!
NOW the BEST thing would be to build yourself a vaccuum chuck!! They can be easily milled from a block of aluminum and all you need is a cheap pump from Edmund Scientific!! They work REALLY well and are not at all complicated to make.
