double sided quench?

i've made a machete out of the leaf spring off a truck and the blade is ~18" long, but i have a saw on the spine so how would i go about quenching this for the ht without getting it too brittle?

We have to make assumptions - it's a good chance it's 5160, if so harden from 1525, quench in warm [ 140 F] oil . Temper twice at 400 F for 2 hours each time.

can i do the temper in my oven? and thanks!

Shure you can do it in your oven. I would get a thermometer to check the actual temp. of your oven they can be out quite a bit.
