I came accross some pics on Sniperboy's web site (cool site by the way, Snipeboy) of some Walter Erikson bali's with double tang pins. They look cool as hell to me. I was wondering how they played out in the real world though. Seem to me that they would work great but I was wondering if anyone KNOWS if they work well. I'd be interested in hearing everyones thoughts on that and tang pins in general. I'm scheaming on making a bali in the future is why Im asking. So sound off and me me hear what you think!

The double tang pins eliminate the need for a 'kick' on the blade, the small area near the choil, to keep the sharpened edge from contacting the inside of the handle. I've never made a bali with the double pins but it would be more work because of the extra hole to drill, the extra pockets to mill into the handles; all more set-up and room for error. You won't find much to fault with one of Walt's knives as he's got the making of these beauties down pat! Knives like the S.W.A.T. Tiger has to have the double-pins, like many of it's Japanese predecessors, because the handles are multiple pieces and there is no spine for the kick to rest on. Six to one and half a dozen to another....................

DAMN!!! That's an unbelievably sweet clean grind.
It's almost unhuman. certianly inhumane. Some people just find their nitch in life, and I'm so glad that Ericson found knives...

That is SWEET!!

The sad thing is that beautiful balisong will never reach it's full potential since it won't be flipped :(

IMHO that is ;)

Boy that grind is "to-die-for"!! Thanks for sharing as always!
