double thumb lug problem?

my small sebenza just arrived today and it is a double thumb lug. the right thumb lug is flush to the blade the left lug is not. looking at it you can see a gap between the lug and the blade. is this normal?? it feels solid but i would think that it should be flush on both sides. also the left lug is pointy at the tip and the right one is more rounded. there is a definate difference in the lugs. if anyone with a double lug sebbie could confirm this it would be greatly appreciated. thank you for your time.

I dont see how they could sit at different heights because they are both inserted into the same hole in the blade. As far as the thumb blugs go, i would think they all come off the same cnc rig. Maybe you could post a pic of the thumb blugs in question so we could see it.

you won't be able to see it in a pic but if you look at it with light comming from the other side you can see under the lug. between the bottom of the lug and the blade. you can see the shaft of the lug where it goes into the blade. the other side of the lug is flush to the blade no gap. and the lugs are definatly different the left lug is obvious to the eye rounder on top and the right lug (if the spine of the blade is facing you)is more pointy. is this in some way done so they can be removed if nessacary?

Id send it back, chris reeve is top notch in customer service; im sure they will fix you right up. Im very very surprised one slipped thru that wasnt perfect, their quality control is awesome.

actually the more i look at it it seems as though there are 2 protrusions from the bottom of the lug that stabilize it if you look at the lug perpendicular to the blade it looks like a gap but if you look down the blade (parallel) it looks as if there are 2 protrusions from the bottom of the lug supporting it. for a visual it looks like a T perpendicular to the blade and an M (roughly) parallel to the blade, which seems intentional. i ran a very thin strip of paper under the lug and there are definatly 2 detents under the lug towards the outer edge of the lug that touch the blade.one towards the spine and another on the edge side, it must be the way the lug is designed.

The lugs tier down, and the bottom-most rung on both lugs should be perfectly flush with the blade surface all the way around. Either it's a new-style lug, or it wasn't entirely squeeze-fitted properly.

I'd call or email CRK with the birth-date of your Seb, see if there's a new lug in town, and if not, you really need to send it back for repair.

Professor.

Double thumb lugs should both sit flush with the surface of the blade. The first side (generally the left side lug) is press fit into the t-lug hole as any single lug would be. The difference is this lug has a slightly smaller diameter blind hole drilled into it which the second part (the right side lug) is pressed into. If you have a gap it is because for some reason the second side did not get completely pressed in. Either the blind hole in the first side was not deep enough or too much lock tite was put on the second side not allowing it to be fully pressed in. Either way, send it back. CRK will fix it.

i called crk and they said to send it back and they would take a look at it. while i was on the phone i ordered a large double thumb lug :D . i will wait till the large arrives to send the small in. i took some pics of the lug and you can actually see what i meant, but i don't know how to display them. in the pics you can actually see the difference between angles you can see the 2 detents.

Very good decision man! You'd end up with both anyway
