Double Thumb Stud Seb 31 - Lockbar Relief?

The double stud Regular sebenza had milling on the lockbar to make it easier to open left handed. The 21 got rid of this. I think it was a huge "dropping the ball" on CRKs part because the double thumb stud 21 was impossible for me to open with my left thumb even after breaking it in. And it's the reason my EDC is an old Regular.

Now that we have the 31, I am hoping they reintroduced this feature. But I haven't seen any pictures of double thumb stud 31s. Anyone know for sure either way?

If so, might be time to retire the Regular and get a 31! :)

That's a great point and I never noticed it, looking at my single stud 21 I can imagine how difficult it would be (if not impossible) to open left handed.

Such hardship :)
I usually could open the large left handed, but found the small extremely hard. Luckily I am right handed and have very little need.
my memory could be failing but I believe the regular was modified by CRK when they added the doubles studs-may be wrong but that is what I seem to remember.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't open my Inkosi with my left thumb even with the double lugs. There's no space between the lockbar and the stud. Instead, I tuck my middle finger behind the stud under the blade and flick out, a trick I learned on benchmades. It's not hard to do once you get used to it, but you'll still have to close it right handed.

Hey BVO on the locker side of the regular, is there a radius cut into it to facilitate left handed opening? Is it possible for you to load a lockbar side photo please? Thanks, Bart

Peter , does this look like what you meant?

IMG_8676.JPG I guess what I'm really asking is if the relief on the lockbar was likely done by CRK?

Thanks a ton! If anyone else has a Small Reg. with double lugs, could you please post a photo? Thanks, Bart

Anyone seen a double thumb stud 31 to know if a relief has been cut into the lock bar?

The design is exactly the same as the 21. There is no relief cut into the lock bar. The double lug, I believe, is mainly for aesthetics, as some people like their knives to be symmetrical.

This unfortunately makes a lot of sense. Unfortunate because one extra build task to the knife, that the customer would be willing to pay for, would make the double stud functional. But without the small milling, the double thumb stud is useless on the Model 21 at least.

odd because the double thumb stud costs an extra $35 or so to install and I’d think for $45 they could install it and mill off a little material from the lock face. Now if CRK had never done this before then I could see resistance to overcome. But all of the double stud Regulars had this milling relief cut so we are actively making the knife worse over time, at least in this one area.

Fingers crossed that the Sebenza 41 in a decade gets this detail added back in. Something to look forward to in the future!

My Small Reg double lug has the extra relief. My single lug Small Reg does not.
