A first look at Double Trouble, a modern fighting set, by Nick Wheeler.

S30V Blades, 416 Fittings, stabilized Afazalia Burl handles, Elephant hide sheaths by Kenny Rowe.

The finish on the S30V is simply outrageous, no one even guesses that it isn't forged steel.

I hope to get a real photograph of them from Coop next week.

Aww, it's ok, I guess. ;) :D

In all seriousness, that is one heck of a beautiful pair.

Beautiful stuff, Nick. Congrats.

Are you going to the Oregon show BTW?

Terrific pair indeed! Congrats Peter and great work as usual Nick. I think Nick's push daggers are particularly sweet.

A fantastic set - great idea, brilliantly executed by a tremendously talented bladesmith.

Well done both of you.

Great set Nick :D.

You're a real source of inspiration for me, so keep up the good work :).

The original commission for the Double Trouble set, given to Nick, in the Middle 1980's, was to create a
"Modern Fighting Set" inspired by the personal carry blades of San Francisco, circa 1900.

A pair of highly effective and beautiful weapons, designed to discourage cheating at the Poker table, and made of the best modern materials, S30V, 416, and stabilized Afazalia Burl.

We used Nick's "Claro Fighter" , http://www.bladegallery.com/knives/knife.asp?knifeid=1565&pics=small&alt=one and his Push Dagger http://www.bladegallery.com/knives/knife.asp?knifeid=891&pics=small&alt=one on the BladeGallery web site as our starting point.

Kenny Rowe did his usual magic with elephant hide, the result is below. Enjoy.

14 at the time, and probably still had a big head. :p

Best Regards,
