First of all sorry for my English (I write from Spain...). This is the first theaad I write. Until now I only read and was trying to learn from your commentaries...

Yesterday I bought my first Buck 110 Knife. When I arrived to home I see the following characters in the blade.

BUCK
110 V
USA

What is this "V"? It doesn't appear in other 110's photos I have seen in Internet...

Thank you.

:) ...Hello Rolurbi and welcome to the forum. That "V" signifies that the 110 you bought was made by Buck in 1989. From the limited picture I saw it appears that you have a very nice knife there. I like the knives from those years as they have 425M blade steel and for some reason I've developed a liking of the older steels. Congrats on getting a nice 110......WHOOAA...I didn't see that stag...Not a nice 110...a GREAT 110...

Rolurbi,
Allow me to join Darryl in welcoming you to the forum. The history of the 110 is fascinating and aside from it being a great knife, its history is one of the reasons why so many of us collect them. The more you learn and discover the multitude of variations out there, the more appreciation you will have for it. Enjoy your new knife!

Rolurbi, thank you for joining BladeForums, and for showing us your knife! That's a really gorgeous 110!

Hello Rolubi! Very impressive 110 you have! :)

Those two deadheads above should have pointed you to the Buck Vintage page, which gives a chart showing the years of the tang graphics -

What kind of stag is that on your 110, do you know???
:D :D ...Hey Trax...I was gonna keep that page a secret to make 'em think I was really smart...  ;)

Hey Trax.....How did you know I liked the Grateful Dead???

Rolubi! Wow, I didn't know it had stag scales. Sweet looking 110 indeed.
Also, Aside from his offhanded remarks about vintage rock and roll lovers, Chickentrax offers good information about the Buck website. :D

Yes Oly he does ...

Hello Rolurbi and welcome to the forum!
Here we are a bunch of crasy knife collectors but we are very frienldy ...

Oh by the way are you using a translator service ?
Because if you are you will get some strange sounding Spanish. It is because a lot of what we are saying is improper English slang related to cultural things we share and programs will not translate the meaning well at all ... so if some if it looks really strange in Spanish don’t worry to much jest ask one of us will explain! I jest took an hour to get a German letter to read correctly when back in English! if I t had not been so hard I would have laughed at what I got back!! SO don’t mind if much of what we say comes across strange in Spanish.

Some day I want to visit Spain...I've been to Okinawa, Panama, Columbia, Germany, Las Vegas...a couple others...but Spain holds a certain fascination for me... ;)

Thank you for the information.

Another photo of the knife

Yes, Welcome to the Buck Forum, and your english is just fine!

And where did you manage to grab (buy) that really nice old 110?

Thank you again for all your information.

I'm surprised (and happy) by your answers. When I bought this knife I didn't thin that I was such a special model.

I went to a local small knives shop (I live in a small city in the north of Spain)and I said: "I want a Buck 110 knife". The shop owner said me that they only had one old model (They had it in the shop for more than 10 years and had lost the leather sheath)

The knife didn't have the label with the price, so I paid 70€ (90$) for it (the price of a starndard Buck 110 in Spain...).

That is a good deal on that knife. You can log into Buckknives.com and get an idea of what a new custom would run you.

I wouldn't worry about the sheath. Very few of us store ours like that in the sheaths just to prevent scratching up the handles. And most of the time when a collector ships one the sheath and knife are wrapped separately.

Did you get the original box with it? That will add to the collector value.

I would try and find a plain 110 for a user knife. Those run about $25 US new here.

Rolurbi, maybe you haven't seen what a "standard" Buck 110 looks like?

Here's is the Buck 110 web page at Buck Knives. The "standard" 110 has a good-looking wooden handle, and that probably means that a standard 110 would be heavier than your apparently custom-made model, with stag handles.

I think that you have found yourself an incredible knife, at probably a bargain-basement price, even without its sheath!
