Doug Ritter Griptilians D2 vs Sv30 vs cm154

interesting, the only knives ive seen at rei were leatherman and buck.
but what id do is order the d2 version from cabelas.

I personally dislike 154cm and I find that S30V has the problem of initially chipping with the factory edge (although I still love this steel) so I would personally go with the D2. Its alot cheaper than the RSK and better than 154cm IMO.

I'm thinking about getting a M2 Ritter, what do you think are the pros and cons comparing with S30V?

Another thing... I haven't handled a griptilian yet, what do you like more, the full sized or the mini? I like big folders but I've realiazed that in the end I use the smaller ones more, It's the mini too small or on a little like could be the manix and mini manix?

I agree - the mini is more usable - you can get one from GP knives on sale - $42.50 - I love the griptilian with the axis lock - a terrific knife or at cabelas for the D2 version - but they are out of stock.

The M2 will reach a finer edge, the S30V will retain the edge longer.... assuming you dont have any chipping problems. I snagged a fullsize M2 myself.

You do realize that the DR knives are not standard griptillians right? They have a blade that has more material between the spine and the edge. Its a mighty fat blade looking at it from the side profile. This design is only offered in S30V in large quantities and M2 in very small quantities. The standard griptilians do not offer the larger list of features the doug ritters do.

Personally I would get the Ritter in S30V if I wanted stainless, or in M2 if that is not a requirement. The blade profile is great. For a little less money you can get the Cabelas D2 version, which holds a great edge, too.

I have a mini-Ritter in S30V and a D2 mini from Cabelas. The D2 version holds an edge a little better, but the blade profile on the Ritter is better.

I love M2, but I wish they'd make it available without the black coating for those of us that would properly care for the knife to prevent rusting.

GPknives.com = Grand Prairie Knives, located in Troy IL (outside of St Louis).

You can research them at GB&U, however I'll save you some time and tell you that my personal experiences (and many others that I've seen) have been good!

Second that! - I really like GP Knives - I place an order - they e-mail me next day and tell me its shipped and they will ship priority mail for the same price as UPS. Also - I have not had any problems with a listing showing and later finding out its not in stock like at New Graham. Also - their prices are good and when its on sale - even better price ! They have very good communication with the buyer.

I have a yellow handled RSK Mini-grip, that I love!! It is the S30V variety. If I could afford it, I would get the M2 RSK Mini-grip.
