Doug Ritter M4

Quite simply put its the BOMB! The Ritter blade shape alone is about my favorite out of any production knife right now. It has that real high flat grind that thins out the blade pretty good at the edge and slices like a demon. However it is not ground so thin that I am at all worried about tip breakage etc. I love the big thumb ramp it makes for excellent control in a variety of grips. The knife is nice and light which offsets its thickness. To some the handle is a little thick for edc but it really makes it feel good in hand. This M4 edition comes with blacked out liners, axis, hardware and a parkerized clip which gives it a nice touch in contrast to the standard grip. I have yet to sharpen this bad boy yet but I have used the Spyderco Gayle Bradley a lot which is also CPM-M4 and I love this steel. Its easy to sharpen, keeps a VERY keen edge for a long time and is tough as nails. The strength of this steel is one of its greatest advantages, you can get away with reprofiling the edge down to a super narrow edge if you so wish (10 degrees per side) and it will not chip even when whittling. The coating on this blade is the best I have seen as well. It has a Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating like say the ZT knives but then is stonewashed which leaves it polished smooth and somewhat glossy which looks and performs very well. This coating is about the toughest on the market and the DLC runs at a rockwell hardness of around 90. All in all this knife improved a lot on one of my all time favorite knives(Griptilian) and I like it so much that I'm thinking about investing in some custom scales for it. NOT because these scales are uncomfortable or weak, (They are some of the most comfortable and I have never heard of any ones handles ever cracking) but because I like it so much that I might just give it a little something extra. Either way I highly recommend the Ritter Griptilian in S30v or M4 but you might as well get the M4 while its here.
