Hello all,

I currently edc a Ritter Mini-Grip but I have thought about getting a 940. I simply love the design, especially the blade. I love my Ritter Mini-Grip though. Love the blade, handle, size, everything about it. Only thing that is holding me back on the 940 is because it's longer than the Mini-Grip, which I think is perfect for my hands. I keep reading that the 940 is amazing though since it is very light and very slim.

I keep reading both are considered two of the best folders, ever. So who wins? What would you guys recommend most of edc?

Thanks

Both are great knives, I still have my 940, recently traded my Ritter mini... No reason, I would have rather kept it but it was too good a deal to pass up. The Ritter had the typical mini grip scales, they are very scratch resistant, they both are Axis locks which means they deploy rocket quick and are rock solid. I like the blade on the 940 when i'm on a night out and i have to use it. It is a smaller profile so it draws less attention, They both cut very well and take a great edge. About the only thing i have to watch out for on the 940 are the green anodized aluminum scales...If you drop it on concrete or other hard surfaces, it's gonna scratch.... and there's no rubbing that scratch or gouge out. The reverse tanto on the 940 is awesome! It's actually kind of thick, i wouldn't pry with it but it's no delicate flower. They (the 940's) come up on the forum from time to time, anywhere from $75 to $135.... I think you should definitely add one to your collection. I traded my first one and regretted it until i got a BNIB one right here on the exchange about 6 mos later.

How about a set of custom scales for your Ritter? The 940 ie great, but aside from the "plastic-y" handles,I think the Ritter is better.

Yeah honestly both are great knives, but the scales on both are lacking. There is a retailer who is planning a 940 limited run later this year with G10 scales, that would be the perfect solution IMHO.

The 940 won't cut like the ritter will. Much thicker blade. Its a very tough blade for its size. Good gentlemen folder.

They're the same thickness.

940: 0.115" (according to benchmade.com)
Mini Rsk MK1: 2.92 mm = .114961" (according to dougritter.com)

I have both and personally prefer the mini-grip. It seems a little smaller and I prefer the grip scales vs. aluminum. Can't go wrong with either!

Same thickness at the spine, yes, but the Ritter has a higher grind meaning it should be thinner behind the edge which should make it a better slicer.
