The knife I ordered from Aeromedix finally showed up!

I haven't had much time to use it yet, but the AXIS lock seems superb, and very smooth. The blade is VERY sharp. Considering I've never owned a knife of this quality, I have nothing else to compare it to! It feels sturdy and balanced in the hand. The Griptillian handle is not as plasticky as I thought it would feel, and is very grippy. Though, again, I have no other knives to compare it to.

Fit and Finish:

There are a few scuffs on one of the screws by the AXIS lock. You should be able to see this in the photograph. This is how the knife arrived. Not really a big deal to me since I plan to use this knife, but I'm not sure a collector would want it all scuffed up when brand new. There was also a little bit of oil leakage on the clip side of the knife. This cleaned up quickly and left no residue. Everything else about the knife is perfect and in new condition. I can't see any visible problems with the blade edge.

I'm going to be out of town for two weeks starting tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have some time to use the knife and write some more about it.

Here are some bad pics I took of it:

I've carried and used mine everyday now for about 5 months. Great knife. Don't let all the "it has a plastic handle" nazis discourage you :D

I've put this knife to use on many small household tasks as I'm getting ready to go out of town. Cutting through cardboard like butter, the RSK Mk1 has yet to disappoint. It's amazing how sharp the factory edge is. I have cut a few of those rubber band string type things with the knife, and it's as if I don't even put pressure against it. Granted, I've yet to use the knife for any serious tasks, this is my idea of an EDC. It does everything.

So far, I'm very happy with it! The weight is not intrusive, after a while you forget you're carrying it, but it's not so light that cutting something becomes a chore. Also, knife unrelated, I love the peace of mind that carrying one of these gives you. There are many situations that could happen where a knife would come in handy, and I don't even mean in self defense.

I'm very happy with my purchase, and another huge thanks for Mr. Doug Ritter not only for designing this knife, but for taking the time to explain all the "newbie" details to me.

I'll post more in time!

I'd hate to say it -but I like this knife better than my brand new Sebenza (got both at the same time).

It opens smoother (axis lock) and due to the high flat grind goes through cardboard with less resistance. It was also sharper out of the box.

(It's also 1/3 of the price).

Love it.

I prefer the Mini RSK to my small pain Sebenza too.

I find it easier to open and close and more comfortable in the hand.

The Sebenza is a stronger knife, and easier to clean, but the Ritter is plenty strong enough for what I will use it for, and I avoid getting sand or mud in my knives.

Mine had a smidgen of oil showing too but, I was happy about this as I don't like a dry knife - one I have to oil as soon as I recieve it. The lube makes me think they took the time to check it out and be sure it met their quality criteria.

And yes, the action is butter smooth. It strikes me as the quintessential modern American folder. An ideal size, easy to operate and handle, and a blade that is all business.

I try to rotate my knives for EDC and, every time the Ritter comes out for the next knife, I look forward to it's next turn in the pocket.

I LOVE my RSK Mini-grip too!! I am really impressed with this knife!! And I absolutely LOVE it. Oh yeah, the action IS smooooooooooth.

You guys just made me order a rsk minigrip in m2 even though I just bought a regular 440c minigrip. This is a sickness...

Love my Ritter Grip too. Debating on getting the mini, but the full size rides really well in all my pockets. Out of curiosity, anyone know what size Benchmade sheath would fit a full size Griptilian? I note various sizes on the website, but have heard conflicting reports on sizing, i.e not fitting well, etc.

Is it just me or does the RSK's blade look like it was inspired by the Sebenza? It looks very similar, except that it uses a flat grind that is really high.

And did I mention that I LOVE this knife!!

They both also have a "stonewashed" finish on the blade.

The large Benchamade soft pouch is a perfect fit for the full sized Grip.
I carry my RSK MkI in one clipless and tip down.
