Would you buy this folder for EDC light use?
Previously, I bought Ontario RAT 1.5 in Magnacut. Physical disability prevented me from being able to thumb blade off hard detent. Returned folder. I've owned many nice folders in the past. Have carried Zaan for last five years, but want lighter, thinner blade for good slicer.

I have the Mini RSK in Magnacut and I can’t say enough good things about it. Smooth action and a grippy handle.

I can flick the blade open with zero wrist flick. Just using my thumb.

Some folks don’t like the aggressive texture on the handle because it apparently can be a pocket shredder. I don’t use pocket clips so I can’t really comment on that but I like the secure grip provided by the texture.

Great knife.

It's a great knife and will release easier than the rat 1.5 from the detent.

I'm not sure of the legality or if you're even interested, but maybe a side-opening auto would be worth looking into? My BM mini-claymore is quite thin, like bugout thin. BUT, I think the hogue ritter is a better knife overall, just floating the idea of an auto out there as an alternate consideration.

Many of spyderco's knives are very thin and slicey, the manix 2 would be the closest to the hogue ritter. If you can get by with the looks of the spydercos as I find them to be an acquired taste in the looks department. They know how to design an ergonomic knife and a thin blade though.

If you have a disability & can legally carry one, buy the auto Ritter.

I've got one but can't/don't carry it. Just wanted a Ritter & I don't buy knives w/thumb studs anymore. 🤷‍♂️

I have both the full size and mini. And I have the Ontario 1.5
Both Ritters are well made.
The blades on the Ritters are considerably easier to open than the Ontario. (The Ontario wants you to apply enough force that once the detent is overcome, the blade snaps to the full open position like an assisted open does.)

I think the only consideration you would want to think about is that the Ritter handle is thicker than that of the Ontario. It's not an issue to me. But some folks like a thin EDC.

The Hogue Ritters stick in the hand like velcro. As mentioned the milling in the scales is quite aggressive. Very secure to hold and use but sliding them in and out of the pocket is a chore. They’d shred a new pair of blue jeans in a matter of days.

Hogue also makes the Mysto now in three different colors of Richlite and Magnacut, blue red and brown. It’s more slender in profile about 4.5” closed and 3.4” blade. USA made for about $170 I think.

I removed the clips on both of mine and sanded the areas where the clip contacts the scale. They no longer destroy pants.

A solid selection, I keep telling myself that I will get yet another one soon, of course a nice lanyard would round that rascal off and I would offer to tie one on for you if you end up getting one, makes it handy to draw from the pocket.

Well, I just got this Kershaw Bel Air clip point in today and it’s pretty nice with a thin slicing blade and opens easily too
