Upon Arrival: I removed the micarta handles from my Bk2 and slapped them on the RSK. Less beefy fit in the hand due to the slimmer micarta scales, but they feel a little nicer than the grivory ones did. Fit 'n finish was Rowen all the way. Flawless would not be an overstatement... Well, I suppose I could pull a serious nit pick and whine that the grivory wasn't 100% flush with the tang, but sheit...That'd be a bit pathetic, imo. They fit the Bk2 better anyway. I'll buy new ones for the BK2 eventually.

Everyone has a hard on for factory sharpness, so I'll spew some accolades stating it was perfectly ground by an expert hand. And sharp enough to shave with. Briefly touched it up with the Sharpmaker's ultra fine stones and it wanted to cut me as much as shave at that point. I'd call that pretty damn sharp.

I like the sheath's design and all, but dislike how loose the blade sits inside the insert. I was hoping it'd be a locking insert, but it's just a noisemaker that likes to rattle rattle. Oh well, not so bad with the collar closed. Very identical sheath to my Ontario Rat 7.

Overall Impressions: I like it well enough. Wasn't a love at first site kind of thing. Not sure why. It has the grind I like, the style I like (drop point), but the feel of it in the hand wasn't that "wow this feels great" feeling that both my Bk2 (especially after putting on the micarta handles) and my ESEE Izzy II had. Speaking of my BK2, after holding it, everything else feels like a toy by comparison. Makes the RSK feel that way too. I think I just need to use the RSK some more for it to win me over.

Hard to take a proper photo with this little guy around. He would have tried to run off with it, had I given him the chance.

Saw this beetle as I was photographing the RSK...

Very nice! I've been eying those since they came out.

I have a BK2 also, and know EXACTLY what you mean about everything else feeling like a toy!

try tying a bit of paracord around the webbing up top, and let the other end dangle into the sheath hole , then stick the blade in. may need two pieces (a loop), or a strip of leather. adjust for tension. esp with the leather, once you like it, a bit of rubber cement or such, and you can likely trim to fit and all that. then truly bob is your uncle.

Thanks, will do.

Thanks guys. Yes, the micarta adds a lot of appeal to the overall appearance. And imo, gives production knives a real custom made look. I think a satin blade with the micarta would be even sweeter looking. Not sure I want to strip it tho. Maybe once it wears a bit.

I'm not sure if it's because all my large fixed blades are comparatively heavy, or it's just the RSK. But this thing is super light to me. I think the reason it never won me over was the insubstantial feel of it. I prefer a little more weightiness in the hand (without being cumbersome, of course). That being said, anyone who likes very light-in-the-hand feeling agile knife, will love the RSK.

bullosa, I'm sure you're asking what becker/kabar next (assuming you weren't be incredibly rhetorical)... but I have to tell ya, there's so many knives I'm interested in right now, it's a head spin....
Chris Reeve Nyala, BRKT knecker, Fox knives Parang (check out the sheath that knife comes with! includes a survival kit!), ESEE Junglas, ESEE 3, Fox knives 131MGT (very sweet looking knife), Kinda digging the CRKT Russ Kommer 2 shot skinner, ENZO Trapper in some exotic wood, list goes on and on. Then there's the kazillion folders I want, and LED flashlights, and the Pfleuger Supreme XT reel or Patriarch reel...... GAH. Gee, why am I always broke.
