I got an email confirmation that my Benchmade Doug Ritter S30V Griptilian has shipped. Its been a long time coming. I'm really looking forward to getting it.

Mine is scheduled to arrive Monday. I'm not big on reviews, but I'll let you know what I think of the blade shape once it's in hand.

Well my RSK arrived early, UPS dropped it off today :)

The knife opens much like any benchmade axis lock, smoothly with a solid lock. It's built like all Griptillians and feels very solid.

As for the blade: it doesn't look 3.4" long because the blade it so wide that it distorts the perspective. I love the blade shape. I'm getting ready for a trip and the RSK is going with. When I get back I'll have a better feel for the knife.

I currently have a 550 in my edc rotation. I had a 551, but the thumbstuds would sometimes catch on my pocket when I pulled out the knife. This would cause the blade to partially open. Does this happen with the Ritter grip?

It's probably a technique issue. All of the Benchmade knives that I've used for EDC have studs and none have opened or partially opened as I pulled the knife. If the Ritter's studs do snag the blade will open however. I tested this by simply holding the studs and pulling the knife as I would when taking it from my pocket; it opened right up. But I have never noticed the studs snagging or grabbing at my pocket.

Maybe your jeans are too tight. My trousers are either Wranglers with a relaxed fit or RR 5.11's. With the 5.11's I wear the knife in my right thigh pocket.

Just got my RSK #72/100! It's better than I expected. It looks and feels soo incredibly solid, and the action is as smooth as if it has been opened a million times. Love that blade shape/finish! This is the way the Griptilian should have been originally made!
