(Moderators, please delete if you think this falls under deal spotting, with my apologies)

otherwise, it looks like the Douk Douk colored handles are a lot more available now. I found some at knifecenter.

It used to be that there was a sole distributer in NY who sold them at ridiculously inflated prices. That vendor had a trendy/hipster/boutique vibe...yuck. Before that, searching online, it seemed they were only sold in europe.

I think this is good news! Finally, a yellow handled Douk Douk like one of the characters in William Gibson's Spook Country :)

These are the Douk-Douk Folder with 3.125" Etched Carbon Steel Blade and Steel Handles in Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. Sharpening Rod included. Very cool.

not my cup of tea i guess Ill keep to my plain ol Douk-Douk.

That was my thought at first, but then maybe it will help the humble Douk-Douk gain some popularity. After all, some people go nuts for the alox SAK's that have some different color coating on the aluminum scales, in spite of prices double what a normal SAK pioneer or farmer would run. The Douk-Douk is a great slicing knife but is unknown to many. I'm for anything to get them out there more.

Now, I wish more vendors would carry the vendetta model and the giant one. I can only find those in a couple of places and only one outside of Europe, but the price is not too appealing.

Good point, it is a shame that they have ad flash and flare to a great basic knife. I miss having mine on hands for basic tasks. I always appreciated tossing it in my pocket and handing it to the NKC, non knife carriers, they always find it to be an interesting piece. even when Im carrying a Sebbi or some sort of custom haha

I spoke (email) with Baryonyx about it and he said he would try and speak with his distributor for Douk Douk.

That would be awesome. I hope he can work something out. If he gets either or both models in, I will buy them for sure.

How is the color applied on the handle? Looking at the pics it looks like a spray-on epoxy.

Yup--looks like an epoxy powder coat. I like the cases with these and the idea of colored handles but I just keep looking at them and thinking of how fast they'd get chipped up and how the handle stamps don't stand out much. I'd love to carry just the cases though. A little matching lanyard on the bale of a standard Douk-Douk and it'd look just grand.
