Well, I am sad/excited to say that after carrying an Opinel No. 7 everyday for two months, I ordered a new knife. Actually two! :D I have spoon knife and a Douk-Douk headed my way very soon. I am just curious as to y'alls opinions on this knife. How does it work, last, sharpen, and how cool does it feel to carry? Maybe I'll show some spoon pictures over Christmas break...

The Douk-Douk is a good knife for the money. Like an Opinel it is inexpensive, but not cheap. The steel takes a nice edge and can be scalpel sharp. Unlike an Opinel the handle is less comfortable in use, but being flat it carries easier than it's size would suggest. It has a very strong backspring and takes effort to open, and Woe upon you if your fingers are in the way when it closes - SNAP!

They take a nice edge. Very simple and useful knives. I like the sheepfoot ("stylet") for marking and keep one on my work bench.

Douk Douk is an interesting very simple knife. I like how slim it is. Fits in the pocket easy, even back pocket and can be readily removed with a landyard.

The Douk Douk works well as a simple EDC knife. Mine had an "Emerson" style V grind. Flat V grind with one side of the edge side flat the other sharpened with a secondary bevel. It takes a razor sharp edge, but the steel is not very hard. Per one purveyor it's 50-53; another 53. It won't chip, but it does get dull and if you make it real thin, it will roll. I kept the chisel style grind and it works good.

Carries sweetly like a Mercator k55k but it has a kick to stop the blade on closure (a biggie to me). Steel is soft, about like Opinel carbon.

I love Douk Douks, but they're not really that cheap for what you get. Still, everyone should have at least one.
