Down garment question

I have used down garments since the mid-70s. It has been cold enough here at Ft Bragg to justify testing a new Browning down jacket these past few mornings. I have experienced a situation with it the same as I noticed with a previous down vest by Lewis Creek. I can either be slightly cool, or comfortable, and then with no transition nor warning, become uncomfortably hot. For lack of a better description, it is similar to a hot flash. This is not dependent on activity as it has happened simply while sitting. I then have to open up the zippers to dump some of the heat. this can happen several times during the day. This does not happen with other clothing. Does any one experience this? Or perhaps it is just how my thermostat reacts.

Yep. Your body never really shuts down it's furnace. A good insulating garment traps that heat. After awhile it feels like Grandmas' house. Gotta throw open a window sooner or later to be comfortable.
