I have a Sanyo Katana II cell phone. I bought a cable/software combo on eBay. It was cheap enough so that if it didn't work, I wouldn't be out much. The cable seem to work, but the software is not user friendly. All I want to do is download pictures from my phone to my computer. Nothing more. (No games, ringtones, etc.)

I have looked into some of the other software and from what I read, they aren't that great and are expensive.

Is there any freeware that might do the job?

Does the phone have a removeable memory card? If so the simplest way is to transfer the pics you want to transfer from the phone's memory to the card then use a usb card reader to copy them to the computer. You move them using windows explorer.

Is it really that bad? It's probably your best option. Check the help files and see if that straightens things out.

If it's only a couple of pictures, you could try emailing them (if your phone permits) or sending them in a picture message to your email address.

A quick google found this:

I haven't used it, and have no idea if it's worthwhile.

you have set up an account right? you know, aol, whoever?

i only ask because i had probs because i hadnt set up my account on my phone and had the same probs as you list lol, took me a while to figure it out i thought it would go thru cingular.

I just text the pictures to my personal email address and it has worked fine for me. I've got an Env and didn't get any kind of cable to download anything.

That's always worked for me too. And vice versa.
