Ok I posted the 317 stag I had done by Leroy (see stag thread or artistic thread). Talked to Leroy today to let him know that I was sending him another 317 to do. Told him I was thinking ironwood which he said would be a nice look. In picking his brain he told me about a resin infused handle material he makes in house called Cholla Cactus. Comes in just about any color (you can see some on the bay that he made). I really like the Turquoise. Help me choose ironwood or cholla cactus, the poll closes tomorrow morning.

A 317 with ironwood would be awesome, i would also included the embilum where it was if it was mine.

I can't help you decide, but I did look at the cholla catus on the bay.

WOW, that stuff is freaky cool :)

Cholla Cactus resin looks neat, but I'm afraid after a while I personally would get tired of the plastic look and feel. Ironwood on the other hand is harvested from the desert floor. To cut it off of a live tree may kill the tree. Ironwood is so hard you do not have to stabilize it with a resin for knife scales. Sand it with a very fine sand paper and buff and you generally have a gorgeous piece of wood. Especially if it a book-matched pair of scales.

Therefore, my vote is ironwood.

We have lift off .... just have to wait until the return flight to see the pkg.:D

Ummmm..... are you sure you like stag best???

:p :D :)

I'm pretty sure stumps is the type of guy to remove stag scales and replace them with dymondwood. :D

(I'd go with the iron wood, that being said I do like stabilized pine cone and the cactus is very similar)
