Don't be fooled by the name: these have nothing to do with Australia, & are made in Asia. When they first came out, there were reports that they were halfway decent, but I've heard nothing in a long time
Well, nowadays nearly all so called premium brands of just anything is made in asia.....90% of US or EU stuff is made in there.I have seen very good reviews on knife, the bad remarks were mostly made on their sheaths being poorly sawn
That's all fine. I saw one review where the owner liked the blade so much he had it rehandled to suit him.
Good & bad comes from all countries, I wasn't making a comment on quality.
Last time I looked, all their marketing was Aussie themed, which I find irritating & dishonest. They have nothing to do with Australia, ownership wise or manufacturing.
I think they have done so only for the fact, that the knife is more or less the only reproduction of famous movie knife from Croc Dundee series
I guess if you just got to have the look it might be what you want. And if that is true, get it and be happy!
That said, for that price you can get an actual premium brand with actual premium materials, fit/finish, and warranty. I would take an Esee Junglas over this any day. And I would have change to spare.

Gerber still makes stuff in the USA like the Strongarm, LMF II, and the Prodigy. Buck still makes 119s and the 110 folder here. Bark River makes ALL of their knives in Michigan. Spartan Knives, Chris Reeves, ESSE, should I go on? So tell me again why its cool for a company to charge 200 bucks for a knife made in Asia when the steel is only 440c and the labor cost were dirt cheap? Lets be honest here, they are charging that kinda money for a novelty. They sell a knife near identical to Dundees from the movie, and think because of that they can charge you through the nose. P.S Sorry for the necro. In fact, I shouldn't have even posted in this thread due to the age but I saw the false information being spewed here and my fingers reacted before my brain. Could a mod just lock this threat all together please?
If I remember correctly he also pretty much turned out to be a shill for Down Under Knives. Just constantly started threads on how great they looked/were.Yeah man honestly I saw what he said and my fingers went to typing before I even looked at the date. It's my bad.
What are your thoughts on it since buying? I purchased one recently and found out that the sheath it comes with can't be used for long term storage, due to tarnish and possible rust of the blade. Probably happens with most knives but I'm new to buying so was not sure.I bought my Outback a while back and have received favorable comments on it from a friend who has a pretty impressive background in the knife industry...and of course I love it!!!
