Wow Jill, that is pretty amazing! I love how the red cardinals pop out of the otherwise-monochromatic background of snowy hardwoods!

That's awesome! I only have one cardinal in my yard.I wipe the snow off my window ledge to feed them. Also multiple wrens several woodpeckers and blue jays. The cardinal and jays are a wee bit mean to the other birds that come to feed...

Cardinals are always a cheerful sight on gloomy winter days. Great pictures.

I have been feeding about 10 ,all winter . Here in northern ohio there's been snow on the ground for weeks . They have ate about 30# so far Jake

We are feeding 30# in two weeks here. There's blue jays, doves, towhees, woodpeckers and all sorts of other birds coming everyday that weren't there when I took those shots. No English sparrows at all and hardly any starlings, I guess that's because I live in the woods.

Tons of those too! The starlings are my favorite. I'm not sure if we have English doves. In NJ we call them ground doves and they kind of make a "who" sound like an owl...will post up pics in a second as I'm on my phone!

Some Jays

Some more later!

Here's the doves coming in today, they're called mourning doves.

Jill,
Great Photos, Thank You for sharing them with us.
I hope the Cardinals remember that you bought them dinner and show their colors this spring.

We feed the birds here too -- they can use a little help during the polar vortex! We even installed a heated bird bath in the back yard - they love it!

Here's a bird of a different feather! Yellow shouldered Amazon Parrot. He's the new addition to my family, we got him and a massive Caitec cage over the weekend. Such a nice little fellow.

I've noticed in photos that I've taken of birds, deer and fox that they all seem to have a heavier winter coat this year. Nature truly does adapt with the changes.

Great winter pictures of birds and and yes, nature adapeds quickly. Even here in S. Cal where I live and there is no snow and mild winters I can tell the difference in my dogs that I walk at night from a warm winter and a colder one here in the thickness of their coats when I bruch them out and when they molt in the spring.

Birds puff out their feathers when they're cold, also when they're sleepy or sick. That Cardinal is hunkered down on the branch to warm his feet. If you watch geese walking when it's really cold, you'll see them flop down to keep their feet from freezing.

According to your observations, this sparrow is very cold. It was about 15 degrees when I took the photo.
