Really interested in a Dozier Master Skinner but according to his website the turnaround time is about three years as they are made when ordered. However, A.G Russell has them listed as three months if they are not in stock. This makes me wonder if they are the same quality knife. Are the Dozier A.G.Russell knives outsourced with Doziers name on them or are they both the same and one of the sites info is incorrect?

In my experience three years is probably the longest you may wait and I believe it likely applies to knives with a very fancy finish, like matching stag and damascus and so forth. Place the order with Kerry, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I guess you are not familiar with A.G. Russell. A.G. is the epitome of honesty and integrity. The Dozier's that A.G. Russell sells are the real deal.

The knives carried by A.G. Russell are "real" Dozier knives. I have purchased several from Mr. Russell over the years and have always found them equal to those that come right from the Dozier shop. I think Russell 's
short lead time is a combination of having long standing recurring orders being filled and having a favored status as Bob's oldest and largest outlet. The service from either shop is top notch.

Since you are looking for a Master Skinner Google up Billy Cochrane. He has one in stock right now. "Pup" is good people too.

AG has standing orders at the Dozier shop.
X amount of knives per month.

The same quality knives.

I am familiar with them and have in fact ordered several knives from A.G. Russell. I was in no way implying any kind of dishonesty on their part. Just wanted to make sure they were the same specs. Thanks!

I agree on all counts, AG, Bob and Billy.

As others have said, they are the same knives.
I remember talking to a lady at Dozier years ago, and she said they were so close to each other that she often drove the knives over to AG. They've had a long relationship.

Dozier at one time had some blanks made elsewhere, then finished in his shop.
Those were made for AG Russell, and they had a flat grind. They were stamped "Arkansas Knives" rather than "Arkansas Made"

Its been a several years since they did that, and they only did those for a couple(or a few maybe) years.

ALL Doziers are now made 100% in house. Dan Crotts does alot of the grinding, along with Bob(though he mainly does the higher end knives) and a few other very skilled craftsman.

I think AG is Bob Dozier's #1 customer and I am sure he gets priority service. Plus he has standing orders for the knives he routinely carrys. So, I would suspect 3 months is an outside length of time, but you can certainly call AG and speak to them. They are a first class outfit.

I understand that Bob has been concentrating on the folders and higher end part of their line (Loveless style knives).
