What do you think about this folder's blade shape,a spearpoint,or a warny?

Here is a spearpoint, same size knife.

That looks spearpointy, with a hint of Wharny. That is a beautiful knife by the way!

Reminds me of the blade on my BM 450, which I consider almost a wharncliff. I'd sooner call the Dozier that than a spearpoint.

Here is the same exact size folder, with a spearpoint,Now what do you say?

BTW,Thanks for all the help, and Merry Christmas!

I'd have to compare the two with the knives positioned at the same angle.
It is a hard call, isn't it ,Kieth?
What I do know,is that it was described as mastadon Ivory, cocobolo backspacer, and if I see right,it is stamped '03.
I'll have to wait 'til Tues. morn.,to get the lowdown on it.

Vince, ivory and the wharncliff blade that one is just about perfect. Larry

I've never seen that grind before on a folding hunter. I'd call it a Wharny but, as mentioned before, it's better to make that call on a true lateral photo. I love it!

Don't think you could correctly classify it either way. Thought closer to a wharncliff if you had to.

I agree with Saberman. I would call the ivory handle knife a modified wharncliffe. A wharncliffe blade has a straiget edge and a very sharp needle like point. My EDC is a wharncliffe trapper made by Tony Bose. Below is a scan of the wharncliffe blade in my knife.

A Thank You to all who responded to the request for help.A few days prior to Christmas,I bought the wharny knife on a dealer's site, but they closed, and I could not get in touch with them, until after the holiday,I was having a small fit of anxiety over it.It turns out,it was a little wharny, with the unique mastodon Ivory/cocobolo backspacer combo. Here is a shot right next to the spearpoint blade.I wanted to follow up on it,Thanks Again...

Beautiful knife Vincent! Congrats!

So, to clarify for me, do you believe it to be a modified wharnie?
Your pics look like the belly does come up more than the other Dozier wharncliff folders I have seen pics of... :D

Add,You know,again,we/you,are looking at pictures of the other examples.I have never personally handled another Dozier wharny, but, one good point brought up in this thread, was that a true wharny has a straight edge, this is clearly sweeping up a bit at the tip. So,I'd say,a mod. wharny, but I do not think,it is much different than other Dozier wharnies.I'm wondering now, though,is the cocobolo, cocoboolo ?,or another dark hardwood?I may have to phone Bob,and bother him.I'm good for that occassionally.
Vince

It's a modified Wharnie and it is beautiful. Wish it were mine.
