Recently won a couple of these in Guyon's fans of Ka-bar contest and thought I'd post a few pics and thoughts. I got the zombie green version and I have to say it's growing on me. Not literally thank god.
For those (like me) that haven't seen/helt/felt/or smelt one of these, it's a very solid zytel handled 3 inch AUS8A little tank of a knife. Here's a comp shot with a BK14:
The hollow ground blade is just a whisker under an eighth inch thick and has some nice jimping. The handles are checkered nicely, not too sharp, just a secure grip. It came with a very aggressively sharp edge that required no touching up out of the box. I'm pretty picky about my edges but this one is fine as received.
My wife claimed the little brother the instant she saw it for her "purse knife".
I was pleasantly surprised at how firmly it locks up with a satisfying solid "snap". The clip is removable or you can switch it to the other side. I'm normally not a big fan of folders, but at just under two ounces it's kind of hard not to have the urge to slip it in the PFD pocket or some webbing on the pack.
The coating on the blade seems pretty durable (not sure what it is) and the spine of the knife is nicely squared. Throws sparks like crazy.
Overall this is a very well made knife that would make a great inexpensive EDC that won't wear out your pocket, or a good choice to back up a fixed blade. Very nice. I'm impressed...and I like the zombie green. You're not going to lose it on the ground.
Thanks to Ka-bar and Guyon for the contest and neat prize.
