Does anyone have any experience with Dozier folding knives?

I am specifically interested in the one that was featured in Tactical Knives a few months back--the magazine called it the "folding bowie" but as I understand it, Bob calls it the Buck Hunter (it is designed closely after the Buck 110 blade design).

I am thinking of buying one. How does it compare to the Sebenza?

I have a Sebenza right now, but I am thinking that the Dozier may be the superior knife---although it is more expensive--yeah hard to believe.

Anyone have some feedback?

thanks

[Recently purchased a titanium dual liner lock folder. Quality is identical to my sebenzas. Bob is a craftsman who works with tolerances to the thousands of an inch. Bob is fixated on D-2 - so your chances of getting any other blade steel are remote.

Bob is a character. If he has the time, he is a most knowledgeable and humourous man - I think he has a personality similar to Bob loveless - gruff, yet charming.

He is also very reasonably priced. You cant get better quality work at any price. Now, if he only would make me one of his classic semi drop point blades in a large folder with a dual liner lock.

Does anyone else have any info on this subject? Would you say that the Dozier is superior to the Sebenza?

Superior is a relative term. Both Dozier and Cris work to similar tight tolerances, both use quality materials. Dozier's have a more ergonomically friendly handles.

With the Doziers, you are limited to D-2 steel, with probably the finest heat treatment anyone gives this fine steel. BG 42 is also excellent. What ay determine your final choice is: Dozier's have D-2 and better fitting handles. Quality wise they are identical.

Which model do you have? Is it the one that I refer to above? Did you buy it from Bob directly?

[I purchased my 3" gentlemens folder at the bladeshow. Bob did have a larger 41/2" folding hunter with the double frame lock. This knife won a Blade Magazine award recently. I have not seen the model you described in your initial quote.

Bob does put out a color catalog, but it is out of date and only pictures his drop point folder with a single liner lock. His price range is from 250 to 400 on his folders.

I've never held the knife that you're asking about. But I would advise you to consider it seriously if you like the knife. I feel that Dozier knives rate very high on the VALUE scale. His knives have always impressed me for the good quality you get for the money. I'm sure many others in the forums agree.
It's great to get a good knife. Even sweeter when it's a good value.
