Greetings everybody,
I'm proud to say that my Dozier straight personal with ironwood handles arrived yesterday. Mere words cannot express how beautiful this knife is. We all know that Mr. Dozier has perfected the D2 grind and is well known for his fantastic sheaths. I'd like to add him to the "handle hall of fame" The ironwood is absolutely stunning! The grain contrast is beautiful and there are gold highlights speckled through the wood! He used brass(?) rivets and thong hole, which matched well with the gold highlights in the wood. Since the personal has finger grooves, he had to do some contouring of the wood also- perfectly done I might add.
Of course the blade is perfect, sharp as can be with perfect grind lines. I really like this size and shape of blade. All in all just about the perfect small fixed blade for EDC.
The sheath is the horizontal belt variety. It fits very nicely up in front. I also can drop it into my front pocket if I'm in too sheeple of an environment. I really like Mr. Dozier's sheath system although I know that some here do not.
I would like to acknowledge and thank several forumites that gave me advice when I was researching this knife: Chip, Tightwad, Possum, Jerry Hossum, GigOne, rdangerer, DBH, KWM, and Danbo. Thank you all for helping me make the right choice of Ironwood.
Someday, I will get a digital camera and share this beauty with you all... it will sit next to my OVB and the Lamey that I have on order. Quite a threesome to be!
thanks, Mongo
