I have in my possession a Dozier KS-3 Professional Guides Knife and a Bark River Camp and Trail. One will be staying, one will not. I can't afford to keep both. I'll be using this knife as a camp knife for food prep and various camping chores. Maybe I'd baton some kindling wood with it, but nothing heavy.

Likely it will see use at home in the kitchen as well. I made a little video with the two knives and would love any thoughts you may have. I know it largely comes down to what I prefer, as they are both excellent knives. But I'd love some outside opinions to inform my own. Thanks!

Well that's a nice dilemma to have! Obviously, they are both fine and very capable knives, but for a knife that I'm going to be using in the field, possibly for extended periods of time, I'd rather have Bark River's A2 than anyone's D2, simply because of ease of maintenance.

Let us know what you end up deciding.

I don't use a knife to baton, so I prefer the Dozier. Nice cutting edge, with great geometry.

Two very different knives. That Dozier looks sublime in the hand. But for your uses, I think the Bark River is the obvious choice.

The D2 is going to require more maintenance if you are using it for food. That said, I love Dozier knives and Bark River and would do what I can to keep them both!

The Dozier has a better grind I think. The fact that you mentioned the Dozier to be a little handle heavy I would say stay with the Bark River. The Bark River has a nice bolster and burl handle. .Bob Dozier makes a nice knife. I've always wanted one of the smaller slim outdoorsman or gents knife he makes.
