dozier or may for D2

looking to get a nice hunter in D2,im leaning to the may because of the scandi grind he can put on his models,,,i know dozier has a scandi bushcraft model,but can he put scandi on his other models,think ill give them a call,but does anyone have any experience with the two makers knives any info would be great??

None with Dozier, but I've owned 3 by Charlie May in D2 and he does excellent work.

I've got a couple from each.

Both great at D2, but there very different knives.

Charlie does an awesome hand rubbed finish that you won't get on a Dozier, and I like his flat grind much more than the Dozier high hollow grind.

I like Dozier's handle's much more though, and are the best I've ever felt.

Can't go wrong with either, as they are two of the best around. Check out Gene Ingram also since you like May.


BTW, Gene and Charlie do thin handles, but can make them thicker if you ask. I had Gene make the knife handle in my avatar thicker than his normal.

Dozier's D2 is very good. He will build to order, but there is a wait involved. I greatly prefer his high hollow grinds for hunting knives, but that's just me.
