I just ordered my first Dozier knife from AG Russell. Can't wait for it to get here. What do others think of this knife? Are there any bad points?

The only bad thing is that it comes so freakin sharp that I had to go and resharpen some of my other knives out of shame. Great knife, great construction, great price. I think if I had to find one real issue with it, it would be the handle is a little slippery. More about me being nit picky than it being a real problem. Im going to write and see if he will put some well placed traction marks in mine. Ergonomically its wonderful.

Congratulations

I don't own one of Bob's knives, but I've handled them a bunch of times at his table at shows. I love his knives, and his sheath carry system real secure. His handles have a nice shape to them and I think D2 is a great steel. I think you made a great decision to buy one.

I've got 3 Doziers, two folders and an Agent fixed blade. Love all three. The fixed blade is built tough and still has an elegant look. You'll love it when you get it!

Julie at CheckerMarx is who Nakano2 uses to do his checkering. Her email address is:

CheckerMarx@compuserve.com

Since Nakano's posts about having his Doziers' checkered I had a Dozier and another fixed blade checkered by CheckerMarx. She has ten or so patterns. The patterns can be described as being on a continnum from sharp on one end to dull on the other end. I had one of each done and I greatly prefer sharp. I get the knife handle scales checkered so they dig into my hand. In other words so they don't slip when wet, bloody or oily etc. Julie will send you checkering samples before you decide if you like.

Nakano is right, the checkering does decrease slippage. I have two Dozier's. A third is scheduled to arrive next week. He is my favorite maker. His knives cut like a razor. I test them by shaving hair without touching skin. I join in recommending Dozier's and CheckerMarx.
