Dozier Question

Is there any difference between a Bob Dozier knife ordered from his site and the ones for sale at A.G. Russell, other than the wait periods and slight price differences?
 
iirc those are made specifically for ag.

but I've owned both and couldn't tell the difference.
 
You will love your Dozier. I have mine on my hip today and it is a great knife.

I forget, there are mid-tech Doziers. The ones done completely in the shop are labeled "Arkansas Made Dozier," if I remember correctly. I think AG sells some, but I do know they also sell the Arkansas Made ones.

There are a very few models that are done only for us. All the Dozier knives wwe handle are made exactly like those you buy from Dozier and the prices are the same as Dozier charges. I do not know what Bob charges for shipping but if it is less than 9-10 he is making you a gift of that part of the shipping.

Do you mean they do not made by Dozier, but made by someone else exactly like those you buy from Dozier?

Sounds like there are a few that are made by Bob for A.G Russell that are not offered to others. An exclusive product. I'm sure A.G. Russell can offer any Dozier Product though.

The Mid-Tech Doziers were a very brief experiment. No More, Bob siad that they took as much time as regular Doziers so, he did not do any more.

Thanks, I juts like this to be completely clear. His D2 edge holding is outstanding at least on my tests and you are one of few who make his knives available.

Will you offers folders from him as well as fixed blades?

Do you have any comments on his HT? Why his blades are so ahead of any others?

I got lucky and snagged one of these! Every bit as good as a "regular" Dozier, heat treat and attention to detail just as outstanding as his other knives. Other than being a different style of knife, that's it.

Owned a few... :thumbup:

Also, many, if not all were flat ground.

A grind the Dozier shop now charges a premium for over the hollow.
 
whats the difference betweeen flat and hollow grind? I know what they look like on the blade, thanks to wikipedia, but as far as application?

YIKES. Do not term Dozier mades as "Mid- Techs". :eek: At least not in Bobs presence. :) In the past, there were a few models that were made with flat ground blades with the logo of ARKANSAS DOZIER KNIVES. As AG has already noted, they resulted in a short run and any amount of time saved did not reflect any $ saved in their construction. These "short runs" had some outsourced work- pre cut/ shaped blades rather than bandsawed. Their final grinding, heat treat, edge application, handle attachment/ shaping, etched logo and sheaths were all done in the Dozier shop.

Wow! I found a whole other long thread on this subject already..... sorry to rehash an old topic.

I'm new to the knife game.
 
You should be able to find several topics regarding Dozier knives. One can't go wrong with a Dozier. I have 3 and all are beautifully made and great performers.
 
Any1 else here going to the Knife show in LAs Vegas this weekend? Im looking at a 30 dollar room, i might just go to see a whole spread of Mr. Dozier's products.
 
I have an unfortunately discontinued Dozier Thorn.

I hope some delerious person offers another one for sale and I snag it..

Easiest knife to keep sharp I've owned THIS millenium..
