I am looking at this knife and really like it. I have heard wonderfull things about D2 steel, especially Bob Dozier's, but I have also heard that it doesn't hold up to stress as well as other steels. Does anyone have expirience with this knife? How well can it de expected to perform as far as prying or chopping? I understand that it may not be meant for these things, but I am talking within reason, not abuse. Thanks. :)

I'm definately not an expert on this, but my understanding of metal is that carbon steel is more brittle than stainless steel, and D2 is sort of a mid-ground between stainless and carbon. I'm not saying carbon steel is weak - there is a difference between weak and brittle. For example, diamonds (carbon that has been pressurized for thousands of years) are the strongest material known to man, yet they will shatter when hit with a significantly weaker steel tool. So, to answer your question, it sounds possible to me that D2 wouldn't stand up to stress as well as other steels, but I doubt it would make a noticable difference as long as you don't abuse the knife. Again, though, I'm not an expert on this, and you should get a second opinion.
