Hello everybody.

I'm planning ahead for a small fixed blade to edc. The only fixed blade in my edc rotation is a bm 210. I really love that little knife and i find it an excellent choice both as a neck or pocket knife.

I would like to step up a little in size and i was wondering about a dozier straigh personal.

What do you guys think about it? How does it compare to my 210?

I would be really happy to see a couple of nice pics of the knife.

I've yet to see a Dozier I didn't like. There are 3 in my safe and all are excellently made.

Pollo, you can't go wrong with a Dozier. I have a Teton skinner and folding hunter and love them both. the skinner is my hunting and general woods bumming knife.
Ive considered getting a personal my self.
Bob is also a great guy to deal with. I don't think you'll be disappointed in any dozier product.
Let us know how you make out.

I really like the Straight Personal. Mine was from A.G. Russell, so it had the characteristic divots in the handle and the logo was on the brass rivet. The micarta started out pretty yellow but as you can see it mellows out a bit after a few years. Here's a picture of mine along with a Yukon Pro Skinner.

Another nice choice in this size range (and equally good of a knife IMHO) is Gene Ingram's model 4.

The Dozier Straight Personal is the first knife I ever bought from my friend A.G. Russell with the coral micarta handles on it. This was years ago and after that I ordered the Whittler, and the White River Skinner from A.G. and later I ordered a SweetWater blank directly from Alecia, Bob and Dan that was a blank they made for me to use in the folder you see in my signiture line.

I gave that Personal to my brother-in-law Dutch, who loves it as much as I did. The Whittler went to my son and I later picked up another White River Skinner and sold my first one with the brown micarta scales.

Buying a Dozier blade is addictive my friend. Its like Lays chips. You can't have just one! :D His horizontal sheaths in my opinion are second to none and make even his small outdoor field knives tactical quick draw knives in a pinch. You'll love it!

I've already decided that the next one I'll get is the Wharncliff. The personal is a very good all around user though and can handle anything from small game on up to white tail fairly easily.

I think I have about 8 different models from Bob Dozier and each and every one has arrived in perfect condition and razor sharp.

You will never have any reqrets if you buy yourself a Bob Dozier made knife!!:D

The fit and finish on Doziers are among the best I've ever seen. One thing to keep in mind, however, is the intended usage of your knife. The Dozier hollow grind is a great slicer, but delicate at the tip. If you are going for more general purpose, then get one with a flat grind. Either way, great knives.

I have 2 original size folding hunters one is bone and the other is amboyna(not sure on the spelling) and small fh with Bob's wharncliffe style blade with green bone. Also, a whittler with a neck sheath, a IWB sheath and a standard sheath and a personal. I really like the Whittler for an EDC. These are the sharpest knives I have every had. Bob is great to deal with as is his staff. By the way you cannot stop with just one.

A few years ago I purchased from A.G. Russell a Dozier Modified Personal, with desert ironwood. I really like the way this knife feels in the hand and the Kydex sheath is great.

If I remember correctly some of the work was outsourced but it is still a great knife.

Here are most of my Doziers. The bottom one is a K-9 Personal Utility (not a straight personal).

WOW! i really appreciate all the replies and the nice pics....

I am actually planning to get a straight personal from A.G. Russel.... i still have to decide between the coral micarta handle and the yellow one... i really like the logo on the brass rivet that the yellow one features, but i'm not sure about the color.... nice thing is to know that the handle is going to mellow out. I will also have to buy an IWB sheath... i guess i'll have to send the knife in for fitting....

Any thoughts about the color?

I had a Dozier Arkansas toothpick. Excellent knife. Truly felt like a part of my hand. you will be VERY happy.
