Would appreciate any information and comparison on these two fine knives from Dozier... Anyone own both of these please post pics! thanks!

I have the Yukon Pro Skinner and it's a great knife. I happen to have it on my desk right now. I like the slightly dropped point, it just looks better to me. I find the YPS to be a great general use knife (I don't skin nuthin'), and while I've never tried a White River, it looks like it's more strictly a skinner with that great belly. The handle on the YPS looks so minimal and plain at first glance, but you should feel it in your hand. I really like it.

There's a good picture courtesy of Geode on the Dozier website at this link. It does more justice to the knife than the ones you see on Dozier's or A.G. Russell's website IMHO.

I've had both and like Torz I prefer the YPS as an overall user. The WR is strictly a skinner that can flay any animal on the planet. I found that I would keep it as a secondary knife in my pack when hunting. The YPS is a more versatile blade and the teardrop handle melts into your hand. Man was it sharp too!! I remember testing it by shaving consistent 1/8" strips off a 3"x3" scrap of paper.

Have you checked out the pics of those beautiful skinners at vintageknives.com yet? Makes it really tough to make a choice when they're both in GOLD micarta. Egads how I wish I had the money. :(

G'day,
The blade shape on the Yukon looks very similar to the shape of one of my favourite fixed blades--the Dozier Straight Personal. I went for the small size because I wanted an unobtrusive EDC.
