I've never had a Ka Bar before, but have been looking at the Dozier for an inexpensive folder. What can you folks tell me about this knife, good or bad? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
From what I've heard from owners, the Dozier folder is a good knife for the money. But from what I can remember the Dozier can only be carried in tip up fashion, and it can't be switched over for left handed people. It's also a lockback instead of liner lock.
I had one and really liked it. It's a simple folder that is comfortable and dependable at a bargain price. I passed mine on to a good friend. I would not have given it to him if I didn't think it was a good knife.
I have that knife. Amazing value, maybe the best knife at its price point.
Pro: Extremely light, and mine was very sharp.
Con: I have trouble always getting the blade to flip open with the thumb studs, and when it doesn't open all the way my thumb usually ends up resting on the edge. I've cut myself more with this knife than any other.
I have the one with the hole and not the thumb-stud. I really like it a lot. Small, but not too small, light, and sharp. It would probably do everything I really "need" a knife to do, great EDC. With that said, I wish they still made the slightly bigger one, as I am a fan of larger folders.
It's a very well made knife and well worth the money, big enough for most utility tasks, yet small enough to slip in your pocket. ( if you prefer not using the clip)
The blade steel is pretty good too.
have 2 of them ,really like them well built ,lightweight and a very good value, nice steel and easy to sharpen-made in Taiwan some of spydercos best stuff comes from Taiwan fwiw.
It's a great knife great bang for the buck and won't let you down. It will be a great first Kabar. only thing that will make it better is if it was made in America
