I ordered a modified K-7 from Dozier at 2002 Blade with a 1/2" longer handle and carbon fiber scales. Dozier has never created a knife using carbon fiber but they were willing to make one for me. Everyone over there is great. Linda is always pleasant and responsive. Daniel did a great job on the handle and was nice enough to tell me about the process of making it. The carbon fiber is the same stuff used by Trace Rinaldi. It is scrap material created by the production of F18 wings. The composition of this carbon fiber is extremely dense. The quality of this stuff is some much better than the commercially available stuff it doesn’t compare. It also made it much tougher to work with. Dozier paid very close attention to detail on this blade. There are a number of little accents that enhance the look and performance of the knife. This blade is super sweet and one of a kind. I wrote this to thank Dozier for producing a truly awesome blade and for being so accommodating.

That is one sweet knife, hdiller! Any contact I've had with Bob and Linda has been extremely positive. They are salt-of-the-earth people. Lots of luck with the knife.:)

Very, very nice. I really like Dozier's knives and it looks like you did an excellent job in picking out the cf. I have just recently gotten a couple of knives with the carbon fiber and I like.

Never saw a Dozier I did not like, but that one is very special.
Congrats hdiller!

Wow!
If Mr. Dozier makes that (CF) a standard item, he's gunna be a busy guy!
Great score.

Very nice. When I first saw the handle I was wondering why the carbon fiber looked different. You answered that question. The proportions of this knife are fantastic. Add to that the excellent blade profile and grind and you have a very special knife. Congratulatios, you have a keeper there.

Trace, thanks a lot man, it worked out really well and I look forward to receiving my order from you. Trace hooked me up with his carbon fiber supplier. He's a great guy and his knives are amazing. His handles are "sculpted" which not only makes them the most comfortable hanldes out there but it really brings out the pattern in the carbon fiber. Thanks again Trace.

Ebbtide,

I agree with you. If Dozier decided to make this is a standard handle material, he would be even more backed up on orders. One thing to note, after measuring the thickness, it is .202" which is slightly thinner than the (.250") Micarta scales he normally uses. It turned out even better for me; I prefer this thickness compared to my regular slim outdoorsman.

Here is another pic.

Like I said glad I could help, and VERY nice score there.. Gordon is a great guy, and that CF is hard to beat for good looking tough material..
BTW, I will be sending back your blade soon.. Thanks, I could have sold that thing 20 times at least:p

Wow! Nice looks and nice ergos in one package.

Is it just me? Whenever I look at a picture of a Dozier knife I can just feel it settling into my hand. Something about his designs calls to me. They are like Robert Parker's prose: clean, sparse, and beautiful.
