After reading about them in Tactical Knives, I think I would like to try one. Has anyone handled one? Would it be a good woods knife?

If you mean the HEFT Woodsman, I don't have the 4 inch, but I do have the 6 inch and like it a lot. I don't see why the 4 inch wouldn't make a good woods knife.

Seems very similar to the "simple and classic" design of the roach belly pattern.

I thank I may have to pick up one. Anyone want to buy a S&W 442 38 special?

I like the HEFT design a lot, this is the 6 inch version. It has a heavy-duty blade for durability. The edge geometry is a very high saber grind which is one of my favorites. It has a good point for penetration. It has an ample integral guard to protect the fingers in plunges and the swelled, bulbous handle is comfortable for choking back on for more power in chopping. The notches in the thumb ramp also serve as wire strippers, a cool “survival” feature for working within an urban environment of with making things from scavenged parts from vehicles. Like the HEST it also has a compartment in the handle easily accessed using a small coin. I hear the new sheaths are nicer and more heavy-duty with rivets.

(Slaps his head a over senior moment. . .) D'ooooohh!

Thanks to the photos above I commenting on the DPX 4 but I was really thinking about the "HEFT" (Mist's pics).

I didn't know they came with a leather sheath. I figured that they'd be a Kydex sheath. Looks like a good blade shape, but I really would have liked a Kydex sheath with it.

The black models come with kydex. The stonewashed with wood handles come with leather

Wow nice pics Mistwalker!! Looks like a beast of a knife, those pics are superior to the ones in TK!

Thanks guys, glad you like the photos. The Woodsman models are Nilox steel not Sleipner, and so far I am liking it just fine.

Just to clarify...as best I can anyway from looking over the DPx website. There are four variations of the H.E.F.T. Knives. There are the 4 & 6-inch "Assault" models that are Sleipner steel, have G10 handle scales and come with a black cordura sheath. Then there are the 4 & 6-inch "Woodsman" models that are Nilox steel, have Brazilian Santos hardwood scales, and have leather sheaths. Then there are the H.E.S.T. II assault models that are Sleipner steel, G-10 handle scales, and cordura sheath, and the H.E.S.T. II Woodsman that are Nilox steel, have Brazilian Santos hardwood scales, and leather sheaths. As far as I know, only the original H.E.S.T.s that are still 1095 and still have green canvas micarta handles, come with kydex sheaths like they always have. As far as I know all have compartments in the handles.
