The long and the short of it was the initial run of them had faulty locking mechanisms and some had blades that would leave the tip exposed when closed so you could poke yourself on them. The problem has been fixed, but it was a huge hiccup and a bit of a public embarrassment for a fledgling company. No problems have been reported with the present production model and they've received very favorable reviews.
